3 Nissan Models Named “Best Family Cars” | McAllen, TX
Earlier this spring, PARENTS Magazine released the winners of its “Best Family Cars 2021.” The cars, minivans, and SUVs that earn a spot on this coveted list represent the very best in the industry for parents. That’s why we at Bert Ogden McAllen Nissan are happy to announce that three of the vehicles available on our lot here in McAllen, Texas, earned a spot on the list: the 2021 Nissan Rogue, 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2021 Nissan Maxima.
The methodology used by PARENTS Magazine
To determine winners in each of the categories the magazine examined, editors actually conducted test drives. They also reviewed safety ratings from both the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, because safety is typically the number one consideration for parents. They also tested out car seats with the help of Abbie Patterson, owner of Super Car Seat Geek and a certified passenger-safety technician. Editors looked for easy drivability, efficiency, and wow factors like comfy seats, innovative infotainment tech, and extra storage that parents would love.
2021 Nissan Rogue: Best Redesign
The 2021 Rogue won the Best Redesign title for this year’s Parents “Best Family Cars 2021” list. Among its wow factors are wireless smartphone charging, available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, tri-zone climate control, a four-door Intelligent Key, and the near-90-degree opening rear doors. The Rogue is a 2021 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ winner (the institution’s highest rating), offers seating for up to five, and boasts up to 36.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the rear seats upright, meaning you can travel with all the kids and save plenty of room for diaper bags, school sports equipment, and more.
The Rogue boasts 10 standard air bags, the Snug Kids® Child Safety Seat Fit Guide, and Easy-Fill Tire Alert. Rogue ProPILOT Assist helps make driving in stop-and-go traffic safer and easier. And of course, the 2021 Rogue comes standard with the Nissan Safety Shield® 360, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and High Beam Assist.
2022 Nissan Pathfinder: Best for Towing
If you like to take your family down to the Gulf for a day of boating fun, the Nissan Pathfinder is right for you. The 2022 Pathfinder can tow up to 6,000 pounds when properly equipped — and that caught the attention of PARENTS editors. Editors also liked the 14 color options available for the Pathfinder. Tri-zone climate control and the tri-zone entertainment system are also musts for parents with large families.
Safety technologies for the 2022 Pathfinder include Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Around View® Monitor, and Intelligent Cruise Control. The standard LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) make strapping in a car seat easier and safer.
2021 Nissan Maxima: Best Sporty Car
Driving as a parent doesn’t mean you have to give up on the sporty, stylish sedan life. The 2021 Nissan Maxima offers the best of both worlds. PARENTS editors commented on the legroom, even when you fasten two car seats into the second row.
Every new Nissan Maxima comes standard with Nissan Safety Shield® 360. Again, for the Maxima, that entails Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and High Beam Assist. Other available safety technologies include Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Lane Intervention, Intelligent Around View® Monitor, and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning. Standard safety features run the gamut, including an Anti-Lock Braking System, Traction Control System, and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System with Easy-Fill Tire Alert.
