Nissan Leaf & Armada Win Awards | McAllen, TX

This spring has been kind to the Nissan brand. In addition to three wins in the recent PARENTS Magazine “Best Family Cars 2021” list for the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, 2021 Nissan Rogue, and 2021 Nissan Maxima, the Nissan Armada and the Nissan LEAF both nabbed 5-Year Cost to Own Awards from Kelley Blue Book, and the 2021 LEAF also earned a spot on Autotrader’s “10 Best Cars for 2021.”

You can purchase both the 2021 Nisan LEAF and the 2021 Nissan Armada here at Bert Ogden McAllen Nissan in McAllen, Texas. Both the electric car and full-size SUV are also available for test drives. If you would prefer, you can order your new Nissan LEAF or Nissan Armada entirely online using Express Checkout with at-home delivery.

KBB.com 5-Year Cost to Own Award

Kelley Blue Book’s 5-Year Cost to Own awards reward models that are most affordable to own over five years. These awards consider all facets of vehicle ownership, including fuel expenses, maintenance costs, and depreciation. Now in their tenth year, the KBB “5-Year Cost to Own” awards include two Nissan vehicles.

You can purchase the 2021 Nissan LEAF in one of two variants, the LEAF or the LEAF PLUS. With the standard 40-kWh lithium-ion battery and 110-kW motor in the LEAF, you can expect to go up to 149 miles before needing to recharge.* If you upgrade to the LEAF PLUS, that range extends to 226 miles, per the EPA, with the standard 62-kWh lithium-ion battery and 160 kW electric motor.*

Safety is paramount in the LEAF with standard Nissan Safety Shield® 360 and available ProPILOT Assist. The 2021 Nissan LEAF earned the 5-Year Cost to Own award in the Electric Vehicle category — the fourth year in a row that the LEAF has claimed the spot.

If a large SUV is more your style, consider the 2021 Nissan Armada. The three-row Armada earned the 5-Year Cost to Own title in the Full-Size SUV segment. Hallmarks of the new Nissan Armada, which is the automaker’s flagship SUV, include the redesigned exterior elements, such as LED headlights and taillights, a sleeker grille, and new front and rear bumpers. On the interior, you will find a 12.3-inch color display (the largest in the SUV’s segment) for the infotainment system, including wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. You can even opt for wireless smartphone charging. The Armada delivers exceptional power from its 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 engine, which pumps out 400 horsepower (another best-in-class rating) and manages a best-in-class towing capacity of 8,500 pounds, when properly equipped.

Autotrader 10 Best Electric Cars

Earlier this spring, Autotrader released its list of the 10 Best Electric Cars for 2021, and the Nissan LEAF gained a seat at the table — probably in part due to its low cost to own. In considering vehicles for the list, Autotrader editors wanted electric vehicles that are priced below $75,000, are available for sale now or by the fall, and are capable of going at least 15 miles on pure electric power.

As the world’s first mass-market all-electric car, the Nissan LEAF has a long history of awards, and it was no surprise that it made it onto this noteworthy list. Editors at Autotrader were most impressed with its standard range — and even more impressed with the range of the LEAF PLUS model. They were also wowed by the ProPILOT Assist technology, especially when you consider the low starting price point for the 2021 Nissan LEAF.

In fact, affordability was a major attractive feature for the LEAF. For 2021, the LEAF starts as low as $31,670, and you can upgrade to the 2021 Nissan LEAF PLUS without a major price jump; this longer-range model starts at $38,270.**
